should i go to nikon service centre and clean it or go to any shop?

my D40 is nearly 2years old liao...

Actually it would be good to send it in for pro cleaning, since it has been 2 years already.

But as usual, check for spots on the sensor itself,

Av mode, shoot at a textureless object, eg white paper (remember to turn to Manual focusing)
You'll usually want nothing to be in focus, since you just want to see the spots on the sensor =)

Set the aperture to a small aperture, (eg, F22) and shoot away,

usually i'll just fire 3 shots in a row, so that i can determine that the spots are on the sensor, and not because my white paper had spots on it

usually dry (using blower) cleaning your sensor will work most of the time..so yup..

I don't know about NSC's service though..i think it has bad rep, but i think that's just rumours going around la hahas ^^

haha okay leh the service centre...i went for sensor cleaning last week =D my camera came back CLEAN!! but NSC damn far...for me la

ownself use blower?

i sent my sensor for cleaning before.

i think its a waste of money

ownself clean better.lol

i tried blower... the dust is on the center and corner... my lecturer was helpping me, he was like need the sensor stabs to clean it...
